1. Check Your Windows

Conversely, if the windows are old and if they are not holding in the heat like they should, then you have problems and are overspending.

This means that in the winter if the window is extremely cold to the touch, it is not insulating the house properly. 2. Put Down Rugs

Another great thing to do in the winter is insulate the inside of your home and make it less drafty. In the summer you want the house to have a lot of airflow in the house, this helps to cool it down. But in the winter it is the very last thing you want. The more draft you have the colder it will get. So putting down rugs, hanging pictures on the walls, and having the house insulated with carpets and items will keep the house warmer.
